Hammerberg Lawyers was again a proud Gold Sponsor of the annual Strathcona Community Centre Hoop-A-Thon. The event supports the Rotary Youth Leadership Program which promotes teamwork, leadership skills, community involvement, education and respect for others. This year, more funds than ever before were raised making possible the award of ten well-earned scholarships and bursaries for post-secondary education, double the number of awards made last year. Together with members of the ROTARY Club of Vancouver Downtown and the ROTARY Club of Vancouver Yaletown, a total of $23,162.75 was raised. Half of the funds will go to post secondary scholarships and the other half will support the Strathcona Community Centre Basketball Program.
GLOBAL News covered the day’s fun events and their news anchor Chris Gailus shot baskets for dollars alongside Hammerberg Personal Injury lawyer Kevin McLaren who said:
The Hoop-a-Thon brings together the community in friendly competition to support the amazing work done by the Strathcona Community Centre. I look forward to the event every year.
