Chris is a member of the firm’s Business Law, Real Estate and Estate Planning departments.
Chris’ practice focuses on the areas of business, real estate and wills and estates law. Chris assists businesses and individuals with the purchase, financing and sale of businesses and residential and commercial real estate. In addition, Chris advises clients on the set up and governance of their businesses and non-profit societies, including incorporations, succession planning and corporate reorganizations, preparing shareholder agreements, leases and other commercial agreements. Another important aspect of Chris’s practice is advising individuals on estate planning, including preparing wills, trusts, powers of attorney and representation agreements. In addition, after an individual has passed away, Chris guides executors and administrators through probate and administration applications. Chris ensures that his clients feel at ease, particularly when dealing with potentially emotional and unfamiliar decisions. Before joining Hammerberg Lawyers LLP, Chris practiced law with a boutique business and real estate law firm in Surrey, BC, where he had a central role in one of the first air space parcel subdivisions in the City of Surrey. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Chris had a career in hotel management with leading and luxury brands. Chris combines the skills and experience he gained during those years with his legal skills and experience to provide effective, timely solutions to his clients’ needs through excellent, anticipative client service. Chris and his dog, Emily the 2017 BC SPCA Animal Hero award winner, volunteer with St. John Ambulance’s Therapy Dog Program and at BC SPCA fundraising events. Chris adopted Emily from the Vancouver BC SPCA shelter where he was a volunteer dog walker.
